JUNE 2026 Summer term

Welcome to the final part of the Summer Term!

We are hoping that more sunny weather continues after being lucky enough with our recent spell of sunshine. We have a busy few weeks ahead of us, we look forward to celebrating our Swan’s graduation. This will take place on Tuesday 14th July from 2pm.

Thank you to parents for supporting the new procedure at the end of the day that we put in place last month. The children will continue to gather together at 5.30pm in the Cygnets room. The front door by the baby room will be locked and all parents will collect their children via the Preschool door. Nestlings and Ducklings belongings will be brought with them to the Cygnets room.

IMPORTANT- For the safety of all our children, we kindly ask that you ensure all exit doors and gates are fully closed behind you when entering or leaving the nursery. We are still noticing parents/carers not securing the gates behind them on entrance/exit to the premises.  This is an important safeguarding measure that helps us keep everyone secure. We also ask that you do not allow other parents or visitors to enter the setting, even if you know them, as all arrivals must be managed by staff. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain a safe environment everybody.

 Parking

We have had several complaints recently from local residents and Milverton school regarding concerns of dangerous and restrictive parking. Please be mindful when you are parking your car not to block any gateways, access to houses, on the corner of Greathead Road and please do not park in the resident’s car parks across the road from us. We have also had reports of parents parking on the pavements; we understand that parking is limited but please put children’s safety first.

Late collections

Although we have seen an improvement in late collections, we just wanted to send a gentle reminder that we have frequent late arrivals to collect children at the end of their sessions. While we understand unexpected and unavoidable delays do occasionally crop up, we are experiencing parents who regularly arrive late. Regular lateness will result in us applying a late fee of £15 for every 15 minutes, or part of 15 minutes, as per our terms and conditions. We appreciate your cooperation with this as we are sure you will understand the negative impact of late collection on children and staff at the nursery. If you are unfortunately and unexpected running a little late, please call the nursery to inform us, as sometimes messages can be missed as staff do not always have access to the app.

Holidays and term time only

Please could you let us know if you have any holidays booked over the summer, if your child is term time only and you require additional days over the summer please request these ASAP so we can check availability as our staffing does change over the summer months. You are welcome to book ad hoc days at short notice but bear in mind that we may not have space.

Swan’s leaving dates and School transition care.

As we prepare for the Swans children to leave us at the end of this term. Please can you let the office know your child’s leaving date, so we can be fully prepared for this.

We would also like to inform families that we will be able to offer limited spaces in September to assist with staggered transition. Due to staffing, ratios and available capacity, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. With this in mind please get in touch as soon as possible to request any bookings needed.

Nestlings

Hi, we are thrilled to welcome Lisa and Blessed to Nestlings! They have been with  us for a couple of weeks and  enjoying spending time with your children.

This half term out theme is Summer, we’re crossing our fingers for some more sunshine. We’re planning to make the most of the outdoors, exxploring water, sand and creating tuff trays for little hands to enjoy. Please ensure your child has a sun hat and sun cream named in their locker, aswell as suitable outdoor footwear.

Don’t forget to check the app for any updates as we will be asking for summer themed photos for the children’s display board amongst other requests.

Ducklings

Hello, this term we will be learning about Animals looking at different animals each week. We will be doing lots of different messy tuff trays, muddy animals, washing animals and lots lots more. We will be looking at big and little animals and working on our gross and fine motor skills, doing filling and emptying and pencil control.

We are excited to welcome Rumaysaa to the Ducklings team, she is our new full-time apprentice, who has spent the last few weeks getting to know the Ducklings children.

Thank you for your co-operation with the new collection procedure.

Please remember to let us know when your child has their 2-year check, so we can fill out our two-year check on time.

Thank you!

Cygnets

Hello, this term our topic is all about travel and transport.

We will be looking at transport on land, air and water.

The first few weeks will have a different Makaton sign, story and song of the week related to these areas. If you could send in any photos of your child enjoying being on different transport that would be a great talking point at group times and we can put the photos in the floor book too.

With the weather warming up can you please ensure that your child has a named sun hat, sun cream and a bottle of water every day.

Please check your child’s cubby hole regularly for art work to take home.

Thank you, Claire and Koral

Swans

This final part of the summer term our topic will be Travel and Transport. The children will be learning about all of the different types of transport and how many of these we have travelled on. We will be covering the land, sea and the air before we move on to looking at the different places we have been to. This will include places we have been on day trips in our country, to travelling to other countries. We will be looking at the different ways we travel to Puddleducks each day, and making a chart of our findings.

Towards the end of the term, we will continue to focus on school transitions, preparing the children for their transitions to primary school. We will be setting up a classroom in our role play area, this will give the children the opportunity to have a look at and try on school uniforms, we will have school uniforms from the schools the children are transitioning to where possible. If you have any that you can donate from an older siling or if the school have any used uniform that we can use please let us know. We will also begin to start weekly visits to Milverton schools’ reception class. This is a lovely opportunity to visit a classroom, meet the teachers and see that the environment is very similar to pre-schools environment.

We will be working hard to prepare for our Swans graduation which is taking place on 14th July from 2.00pm, this is an event that parents are invited to.

Please can all children bring a name labelled sun hat and suncream each day, along with a water bottle. To support school readiness please can we remind all parents that children are not allowed to bring toys in from home. We would hate for any to get misplaced, lost or broken.

 Many Thanks
The Swans team

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a lovely half term!

As we continue to prepare for school transitions, we are working closely with families and receiving schools to ensure every child feels confident and supported in their next step. For some children personalised transition plans and tailored support to help them settle into their new environment may be necessary. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s transition in more detail, please feel free to speak to me. We are here to support both you and your child through this important time.
